Since I'm SO GOOD at constantly updating this blog about things, I started another one. Bridgett Sitting On Ed While He Is Asleep Dot Blogspot Dot Com. Because what does the internet need? MORE CATS
I went to North Carolina for Christmas to see family and eat Bojangle's. I spent New Year's Eve with friends. I'm reading a balls-ton of plays and attaching myself to a couple productions' proposals for shows next season at Sacred Fools Theater. Exciting stuff! WHERE TO SEE ME DO ACTING STUFF NEXT: This Saturday, I will be doing a reading of Occupation at Sacred Fools Theater (north), at 7p. In a couple weeks, I'll be in a movie! Will post more about that later. Saturday night, January 25, I'll be doing more Serial Killers in Mr. Mimblegast. Last month I was in a reading of "Suffragettes," a new play being workshopped by Terry Tocantins and Alex Zola. I signed on as a dramaturg for developing musical "Everybody's Got the Plague" by Zachary Bernstein. I shot some more stuff for an upcoming music video. I ate my weight in fried chicken, which I can't recommend highly enough (I am n After a whirlwind month of Poe Show-ing it up, tomorrow night is our last show. I've gotten to play Tom Sawyer, Amy March, The Red Death, and a member of the Donner party, to name a few; and tomorrow night I will bust out a few more SPOOOKY surprises! Spooky. It's October, and It's Edgar Allen Poe, and...spooky.
SPEAKING OF SPOOKY, my Serial Killers piece "Glen" goes up this Saturday night! Also, I'll be in two pieces; the whimsical "Mr. Mimblegast," returning for episode 3, and the delightfully disastrous "Drunken Playwrights." Here is a post from Lesly Kahn's acting blog about a common mistake Type-A actors make, featuring this Type-A actor. Enjoy!
Are you as excited as I am about the upcoming season at Sacred Fools Theater?? On Sunday I was in a reading of Jonas Oppenheim's new original sex farce set in outer space, "The Mother Ship." Tonight I'm participating in the "Live: From the Last Night of My Life" reading, which is a dark dark comedy from Wayne Rawley, directed by J.J. Mayes.
We're kicking off the season this Saturday with our annual Season Launch Party, which will close out our summer fundraising campaign. Swing on by, eh? Week one of the Serial Killers Playoffs was brutal; eight 5-minute pieces entered, half of them were eliminated. Luckily Everybody's Got the Plague lived to see another day, we'll revisit it in two weeks and hope we make the cut. This coming Saturday, though, we get to reprise Big Men, Little Women (Not a Porno). If you were there last week, you saw a big announcement about the finals and next season...
In other news: Zach has been furiously rewriting and reworking his full-length version of Everybody's Got the Plague, and we're doing a reading tomorrow night. Keep on coming back to Serial Killers, Saturday nights this July at 11pm at Sacred Fools Theater! This Saturday: More Big Men Little Women (Not a Porno)! Jumping into another weekend of Neverwhere, and another five-show weekend. Hurrah! Neverwhere's been selling well, building momentum, and causing bruises (the multi-leveled, beautiful set requires some fenangling backstage). We even had a special visitor a couple weeks ago. No big deal. In Serial Killers, we're going into week 3 of Big Men, Little Women (not a porno) where I play Amy, who is a stretch for me... with Natasha Norman, Paula Rhodes, Pat Towne, Alyssa Preston, and Heather Schmidt. Photo by Marian Gonzalez. I've also gotten back into ongoing class at Lesly Kahn & Co., which feels good. Like joining (and actually going to) the gym. Let's address those problem areas, ladies! AND, this past Sunday I shot something for Hollywood is Hard for Kimmy Kim and Frutron. We all had a blast, and made a mess, and spent the Lord's Day throwing around confetti and making dick jokes, like you do. Will post when it's out!
Headed to the theater to kick off the first Neverwhere of the weekend, will also be performing in Serial Killers on Saturday night, in a delightful comedy called Big Men, Little Women (not a porno). This will be the second time that I have played Amy in a version of Little Women. Last time I played her a possum died under the stage and we tried to make it smell better with oranges.
(sidenote: roles that every short person who is in plays and is a girl plays at some point: Gracie Shinn, Hermia, Amy. CHECK, CHECK, DOUBLE CHECK) I'll get to play with Natasha Norman, Paula Rhodes, Heather Schmidt, Pat Towne, Matt Merchant, Alyssa Preston, Peter Fluet, and JJ Mayes. And we are only 1/5th of the entertainment for this awesome show that is only $7! The puppets: I know! All that’s missing from this production was the kitchen sink! Garbed in theater black, Donnelle Fuller and Julia Griswold brought bird and beast to life, but their crowning achievement was a rat, whose slow sarcastic turn made the audience roar. Overall grade: A Me and my palsFranci Montgomery and Dana DeRuyck made a Vine. Here it is!
In other news, Neverwhere opens THIS FRIDAY at Sacred Fools Theater. I'm in it. Come see it. The script is adapted by Rob Kauzlarkik from a Neil Gaiman story, and the cast, under Scott Leggett's direction, is phenomenal (not bragging, just telling). In other OTHER news, on Saturday night after Neverwhere, I'll be in Serial Killers! My pals and I made this over President's Day weekend. It was in response to a video some dude who says he's from NY made about how L.A. is full of sexy whores who are too shallow to sleep with him. I wrote the lyrics and herded the cats. They were all wonderful cats (credits below). NSFW. Enjoy! Music: Zachary Bernstein
Lyrics: Me! except for the Rap. That got wrote by: Nikki (2K) Muller Shot by: Anthony Backman and Leigh Wulff Cast: Juliette Angeli, Zachary Bernstein, Chairman Barnes, Curt Bonnem, Perry Daniel, Joe Fria, Eric Giancoli, Ed Goodman, Julia Griswold, Franci Montgomery, Mandi Moss, Nikki Muller, Laura Napoli, Natasha Norman, Ari Radousky, Jenelle Riley, Scot Shamblin, Nathan Wellman, Colin Willkie I've started taking Andrew Amani's Actor in Action fight/stunt/safety class. It's donation-based, and on a "come on by when you can, we do this every WEEK, son" basis. IT IS AWESOME. I've done some kicking and punching and sword-ing and even rappelling. Andrew wins awards for this stuff. He is the real deal. He's also generous and super-cool dude. I had to miss it last week though because I was at Disneyland with my wonderful boyfriend! Here we are on Space Mountain. I am getting nauseous. Ed is literally crying from laughing so hard. Tears of joy. We had a grand ol' time. I'm also involved in Sacred Fools' production of Neil Gaiman's tale, Neverwhere, premiering in April. More on that as it develops!
And finally, I'll be making an appearance in the good old Serial Killers this Saturday night. So come on by! It's a party (and a show)! 11pm, Sacred Fools Theater, 660 N. Heliotrope Dr. this Saturday. Only 7 freakin' dollars! The Coarse Acting Show continues; 2 more shows this weekend, 4 shows next weekend, and 2 shows closing weekend. Backstage digs it, calling it the "best worst night of theater imaginable."
I'm also in Serial Killers tonight, prancing into episode five of "Money and Run." Yeehaw! Rehearsals are going splendidly for The Coarse Acting Show, and we're in good shape to open in a couple weeks. EEE!! Some formidable talent here, folks. Getcha tickets.
WAY thrilled to go to the first rehearsal of The Coarse Acting Show tonight, directed by the amazing Paul Plunkett (out of all the wonderful smartasses I know, he is among the smartest), opening November 16th and running through December 16th at Sacred Fools.
From the website: "Acting is important and serious, so the hard-working participants of the Los Angeles Dramatic Series will demonstrate the pioneering and depth-defying acting techniques of Coarse Acting. Along with palpable and cumbersome performance demonstrations, acting will be used in short plays featuring actors. Let the art begin!" So, more news of that as it approaches. In the meantime, here is a photographic image from one of my appearances in a recent night of Serial Killers. Get up in these pixels! This Saturday I'll be in an ambitious new piece by the illustrious Padraic Duffy in Serial Killers at Sacred Fools! It's a sketch unlike anything I've seen at this show before, and I absolutely guarantee it will be buttloads of fun. It's the first show of the season, so every series will be BRAND SPANKIN' NEW! Even Ed Goodman has got a shiny new show going up.
This, of course, corresponds with opening weekend of Jenelle Riley's A Kind of Love Story, which is exactly what it sounds like but with more dick jokes. Go see it, you'll be glad you did. Up soon-ish: I wrote a song! Not something I've done an awful lot of, but I got this idea stuck in my head and finally wrote it out and now, gosh darn it, it's a thing all its own. If I can grab a slot at Ten Tops on October 1, I'll be performing it there. Come to Serial Killers this Saturday! 660 N. Heliotrope Dr., Los Angeles CA 90004 11pm, $7, tickets at the door and while you're at it, getcha tickets for A Kind of Love Story! This week I'm heading into my last workshop at Killian McHugh's commercial callback class. How exciting! It's been a learn-ful few weeks, and I'll be sad to see it go come Thursday (though eager to put them knowledge-morsels to good use).
This Saturday is the annual Sacred Fools Season Launch Party!! It's always a balls-ton of fun. This year I'll be helping out with some of the foodstuff, and I'll be performing in a showcase for the show Scott Leggett's directing next year, Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere." Psyched for the party, and thrilled to help rake in the bucks for this great company. Wanna come? Saturday, Sept. 1, 8pm Admission: $20 at the door at Sacred Fools Theater 660 N. Heliotrope Dr. Los Angeles, CA 90004 If you're feeling generous but can't make it to the party, please make a tax-deductible donation here! |
