Who knows when Serial Killers will be back or what it will look like (or if it will happen)? This week we read episode 8 of Waitress Cop, which theoretically will go up in week 1 of the playoffs this year.

Obviously we all hope we'll get to safely be in a room with each other again before too long, but in the meantime this was a lot of fun (all things considered).

Waitress Cop: Servin' Up The Goods!

Waitress Cop is heading into its FIFTH episode this weekend in Serial Killers at Sacred Fools! I'll be performing in Vanessa Stewart's Serial Killers Classic, Chick Tract: The Musical as well! This episode: "Sin City."

See for yourself at 11pm on Saturday, for the low low price of $10 (only $7 if you catch Bob DeRosa's lovely, poetic, funny Gifted in the same space beforehand!)

She's a waitress, and also a cop!

I wrote and directed a serial called Waitress Cop for Serial Killers; the plot is that she is a waitress, and also a cop. Why is she doing this? Why is that allowed?

Episode 1 starred Heather Schmidt as the eponymous Waitress Cop, Ryan Gowland, Cj Merriman, and Jessie Bias.

Come back this Saturday to see what kind of mischief we'll be getting into in episode 2!

And see me in Game of Songs, as well as Skit Slayers 2: Classic Skit Slayers, in "Murder Snakes"!

Maybe THIS Will Be Our Year!

As we have in years past, Heather Schmidt and I co-hosted Fast & Loose at Sacred Fools Theatre on New Years' Eve. For F&L, the night before, a group of writers get variables to work with, they write all night, and in the morning directors and actors get those scripts and rehearse all day, and then at the tail end of all of that Heather and I waltz in, unfairly well-rested compared to the rest of the participants, and we host the show. It's a great way to ring in the new year!

Big Men, Little Women: A Holiday Special! (Not a Porno)

Picture
LOFT Ensemble kindly hosted another round of BMLW's Christmas special, which ran for a glorious weekend in December.

Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy celebrated Christmas by exchanging gifts, courting with their suitors, fighting over limes, and learning the true meaning of Christmas: putting up with your family when they are driving you insane.

Jane Austen's Emma Frankenstein (written and directed by Jenelle Riley for Hollywood Fringe Festival 2018) was part of Sacred Fools' Monster Mash--three curated Fools-produced Fringe shows with ghoulish similarities.

Emma won "Best Comedy - Indie Voice" and "Best of the Broadwater 2018" and was nominated for "Best Comedy - Hollywood Fringe Fest Awards."

The Plot Thickens!

I got to play one of the plot thickeners on Ten Days In The Valley, and it airs at 10p this Saturday on ABC!

Jane Sadler (Kyra Sedgwick) is an overworked single mom who's a showrunner on a cop show that may be getting a little too close to the truth that the LAPD wants hidden. When her daughter Lake (Abigail Pniowsky) gets kidnapped, Jane has to wonder if it's because of what she's writing into her show. Will she find Lake? Who took her?? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF ALL THIS??!?!??

Tune in to find out!

Serial Killers at Sacred Fools is back; I played "Griz" in Bill Robens' new piece, "Stone Age Tools," directed by Pat Towne and also starring Lauren Van Kurin, Alisa Tangredi, Travis Snyder-Eaton, Travis York, David Haverty, Eric Giancoli, and Joey Ruggiero. It's several thousand years ago. Or a couple million? Or whatever. Serial Killers is not the place for dramaturgy.

At any rate, we're back for more next week! Tickets here or at the door, and they'll be selling beer and wine at the theater. Come party!

was going for "prehistoric" but I think I ended up at "drunk and divorced" which is fine

Not only did Jane Austen's Emma Frankenstein win the Serial Killers playoffs this season (YAAAY), but Mint Mint Doodles designed this! It's us! We're adorable cartoons! You can get a Harriett mug or tote bag or hoodie or clock or all kinds of merch! Winning is fun but being immortalized in cartoon form is an honor I dreamed not of.

(btw, Serial Killers will be back before you know it; the new season starts October 14th)

Just Tryna Stay Relevant

I guess consumers' viewing habits have changed and now no one wants to watch webseries or tv shows or whatever and if you're not doing ASMR videos then you god damn better be doing "unboxing" and "haul" videos where you buy stuff and then show everybody what you got for some reason because capitalism is where it was eventually gonna go I guess?

Anyway.
Enjoy!

Emma and Dick in the Sexy Six!

Dump That Dick (episode 7) and Jane Austen's Emma Frankenstein (episode 5) both advanced to the Sexy Six in the Serial Killers Playoffs! It's part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival, tickets here!
Picture
Dump that Dick (written by Vanessa and French Stewart, directed by Julia Griswold) has everything. Dancing:
A boy band:
Misogyny:
Dancing:
And dancing!
And though not really its trademark, there's some dancing in Jenelle Riley's Jane Austen's Emma Frankenstein too, if that's a deciding factor or anything:

These are for sure my friends and I deciding where to go on a road trip, and here are photos of us just hanging out together. They are NOT stills from the set of a commercial where we pretended to be friends, but if they were, you could probably see this spot while watching a Dodgers game cause I hear it's playing a lot during those.

Did you have a relaxing holiday break, or did you do several holiday-themed shows and spend all that downtime writing, rehearsing, memorizing, and panicking? You did shows?? ME TOO!

There was that Sunday in December where I shunned and shamed Pasadena into repentance, reprising my role as the Angel in the annual Krampus Play at the Church of Angels.
Picture
The three scholars run lines (Miles Taber, Jonny Rodgers, Ben Messmer) before the Krampus play, translated and directed by Al Ridenour
Then the following weekend we brought the March sisters back to Sacred Fools in "Big Men Little Women: A Holiday Special (Not a Porno)" and man, I hope this becomes an annual tradition.

Amy and Beth (Paula Rhodes) rehearse! Big Men, Little Women: A Holiday Special (Not A Porno), written by Peter Fluet and directed by JJ Mayes
Finally, Heather Schmidt and I rang in the new year by again co-hosting Fast & Loose, an overnight theatre extravaganza (8 playwrights get variables at 8p the preceding night, directors draw scripts/actors out of a hat, the show goes up that night), topped off by a dance party and champagne toast.

2017 promises little by way of quality, but here's hoping we at least stay busy.

She was really eager to hear my feedback so I have high hopes about her performance this year. #goals

Night Witches had a sold out opening night and has been holding its own in a sea of like 300 fringe shows. We've somehow been pulling off Serial Killers too, though our next one is at 11am on Saturday. UNCHARTED SERIAL KILLERS TERRITORY HERE.

"Julia Griswold is the standout of the ensemble, bringing a nerdy and understated brand of bravery to the reluctant but smart aviator she plays." -Amy Lyons, Stage Raw
