<![CDATA[Julia Griswold - HI I'M JULIA!]]>Wed, 22 May 2013 01:26:10 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Confetti and Dick Jokes.]]>Sat, 11 May 2013 01:19:17 GMThttp://www.juliagriswold.com/1/post/2013/05/confetti-and-dick-jokes.htmlJumping into another weekend of Neverwhere, and another five-show weekend. Hurrah! Neverwhere's been selling well, building momentum, and causing bruises (the multi-leveled, beautiful set requires some fenangling backstage). We even had a special visitor a couple weeks ago. No big deal.
In Serial Killers, we're going into week 3 of Big Men, Little Women (not a porno) where I play Amy, who is a stretch for me...

I've also gotten back into ongoing class at Lesly Kahn & Co., which feels good. Like joining (and actually going to) the gym. Let's address those problem areas, ladies!
AND, this past Sunday I shot something for Hollywood is Hard for Kimmy Kim and Frutron. We all had a blast, and made a mess, and spent the Lord's Day throwing around confetti and making dick jokes, like you do. Will post when it's out!

<![CDATA[Five-Show Weekend!]]>Fri, 26 Apr 2013 00:22:31 GMThttp://www.juliagriswold.com/1/post/2013/04/five-show-weekend.htmlHeaded to the theater to kick off the first Neverwhere of the weekend, will also be performing in Serial Killers on Saturday night, in a delightful comedy called Big Men, Little Women (not a porno). This will be the second time that I have played Amy in a version of Little Women. Last time I played her a possum died under the stage and we tried to make it smell better with oranges.

(sidenote: roles that every short person who is in plays and is a girl plays at some point: Gracie Shinn, Hermia, Amy. CHECK, CHECK, DOUBLE CHECK)

I'll get to play with Natasha Norman, Paula Rhodes, Heather Schmidt, Pat Towne, Matt Merchant, Alyssa Preston, Peter Fluet, and JJ Mayes. And we are only 1/5th of the entertainment for this awesome show that is only $7!

The puppets: I know! All that’s missing from this production was the kitchen sink! Garbed in theater black, Donnelle Fuller and Julia Griswold brought bird and beast to life, but their crowning achievement was a rat, whose slow sarcastic turn made the audience roar. Overall grade: A

Me and my palsFranci Montgomery and Dana DeRuyck made a Vine. Here it is!

In other news, Neverwhere opens THIS FRIDAY at Sacred Fools Theater. I'm in it. Come see it. The script is adapted by Rob Kauzlarkik from a Neil Gaiman story, and the cast, under Scott Leggett's direction, is phenomenal (not bragging, just telling).

In other OTHER news, on Saturday night after Neverwhere, I'll be in Serial Killers!

It was in response to a video some dude who says he's from NY made about how L.A. is full of sexy whores who are too shallow to sleep with him. I wrote the lyrics and herded the cats. They were all wonderful cats (credits below). NSFW. Enjoy!

I've started taking Andrew Amani's Actor in Action fight/stunt/safety class. It's donation-based, and on a "come on by when you can, we do this every WEEK, son" basis. IT IS AWESOME. I've done some kicking and punching and sword-ing and even rappelling. Andrew wins awards for this stuff. He is the real deal. He's also generous and super-cool dude.

I had to miss it last week though because I was at Disneyland with my wonderful boyfriend! Here we are on Space Mountain. I am getting nauseous. Ed is literally crying from laughing so hard. Tears of joy. We had a grand ol' time.

I'm also involved in Sacred Fools' production of Neil Gaiman's tale, Neverwhere, premiering in April. More on that as it develops!

And finally, I'll be making an appearance in the good old Serial Killers this Saturday night. So come on by! It's a party (and a show)!

11pm, Sacred Fools Theater, 660 N. Heliotrope Dr. this Saturday. Only 7 freakin' dollars!

<![CDATA[Acting! Money! Ruuun!]]>Sat, 01 Dec 2012 23:02:51 GMThttp://www.juliagriswold.com/1/post/2012/12/acting-money-ruuun.htmlThe Coarse Acting Show continues; 2 more shows this weekend, 4 shows next weekend, and 2 shows closing weekend. Backstage digs it, calling it the "best worst night of theater imaginable."

I'm also in Serial Killers tonight, prancing into episode five of "Money and Run." Yeehaw!

<![CDATA[Coarse Acting: Serious Business!]]>Fri, 05 Oct 2012 00:11:13 GMThttp://www.juliagriswold.com/1/post/2012/10/coarse-acting-serious-funny-business.htmlWAY thrilled to go to the first rehearsal of The Coarse Acting Show tonight, directed by the amazing Paul Plunkett (out of all the wonderful smartasses I know, he is among the smartest), opening November 16th and running through December 16th at Sacred Fools.
From the website:

"Acting is important and serious, so the hard-working participants of the Los Angeles Dramatic Series will demonstrate the pioneering and depth-defying acting techniques of Coarse Acting. Along with palpable and cumbersome performance demonstrations, acting will be used in short plays featuring actors. Let the art begin!"

So, more news of that as it approaches. In the meantime, here is a photographic image from one of my appearances in a recent night of Serial Killers. Get up in these pixels!
